Born in La Spezia in 1954, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Florence in 1978. He lives and works in Milan. Since 1979 he has been teaching and researching at the Faculty of Architecture in Florence, and is a professor at the Domus Academy in Milan and at the University of the Project in Reggio Emilia. He has been invited to give workshops at the Royal College of Art in London, the Academy O. Kochoska in Vienna, the Hochschule der Bildenden Kunst in Saarbrücken and at Design Quest in Osaka (Japan). He carries out activities as an industrial and interior designer. He collaborates with numerous companies including: Alessi, Flos, Magis, Seiko, Pulsar, Cappellini, Kankyo, Saab, United Pets. In 1991 he designed the Italian pavilion for the exhibition "Les Capitales Europeennes du nouveau design" at the Centre George Pompidou.
